British GT: Best GT4 Result of the Season at Snetterton
British GT Report - Rounds 5 & 6, Snetterton
British GT's Snetterton round proved to be tough for our GT3 entry but ultimately saw our best GT4 result in the British GT Championship in the second race on Sunday afternoon.
Though the #11 GT3 car could only manage 15th in both races, Moh Ritson and Ashley Marshall took P5 in GT4 - and it could have been even better too.
With Ash at the wheel of the #26 McLaren in the last few minutes, he was lapping faster than any other GT4 and closing in on the Toyota ahead very quickly. The clock ran down with Ash already trying to make a move; though it looked as if we'd have one more lap to do the job, the race leaders came past on the pit straight and brought out the checkered flag, ending the race a lap earlier than we'd hoped.
A P5 finish - P4 in GT4S - means a good haul of points for the pairing, and they also set the fastest GT4 lap time in the race.
The first race could have been a similar result, but Moh was hit while trying to take P6. That caused a puncture and some damage which forced Moh to pull over to the side of the road - though we did complete enough laps to be classified.
Martin Plowman and Paddock debutant Graham Davidson showed some signs of pace in the 720S, but in the end it was P15 in both races. The first one was hampered by an early puncture which forced Graham to make an extra pit-stop before the pit window had opened.
Starting from the back in Race 2, a slow puncture held Martin back in the opening stint, while a drive-through penalty halted any possible charge from the 2019 series champ Davidson. In both races, P15 meant P10 in the GT3PA class, which means the team does at least pick up two points for the Pro/Am standings.
The British GT circus rolls on to the popular Spa-Francorchamps round next month, where Martin Plowman and Graham Davidson will once again team up in the GT3.
